We need each other, I’m talking about the older generation and the younger. The older generation needs the younger generations stamina and passion and the younger generation needs the older generation wisdom, consistency and patience. I have heard way too many times “The older generation needs to get out of the way and let the youth do it our way” or “The youth are too lazy, loud, and crazy”. The fact is we can’t do what God has called us to do as a body of believers without each other. God did raise up youth to affect change in the Scriptures, but He always had them submitted to someone before they were able to operate in their purpose.
It is God’s order, Moses and Joshua to the relationship between Mordecai and Esther and who could forget Elijah and Elisha. Moses poured into Joshua, giving him his wisdom, consistency and patience (40 years leading people is a long time and you will need both consistency and patience). Joshua did not stand on the sidelines but he served the purpose of Moses. Through Joshua’s serving of Moses mission, he was able to lead the children of Israel into the promise land. Mordecai poured into the life of Esther and she was able to save a people from destruction. Elijah poured into Elisha and Elisha did twice as many miracles that Elijah did. Do you see the pattern here? The younger is to learn from the older and the older is to pour into the younger.
We also need the younger and the older together for the purpose of the Kingdom. Where are the spiritual fathers and mothers to help raise up this generation? God never intended for us to do it separate from each other, it is said this way in the Scriptures (Luke 16:12)
And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?
