It is time for me to start blogging again. I took a break because things started to get hectic for a while. Everything seems to be calming down so I figured it was time to start it back up. So I will start this particular blog off by letting you in on a little journey that I have been on.
I have been on a personal journey as of late and God has really been showing me somethings. The biggest thing He has showed me (so far) is “mercy”. God delights in showing mercy, He would rather provide us with mercy than punishment or judgement any day. When we are afforded the opportunity to repent that is a form of mercy, when God has the right to punish us for the sins we commit and chooses not to….that’s mercy. I always knew God was merciful but I can’t say that I knew he delighted in showing mercy. It is a hard concept for me to grasp. There are times when we willingly disobey, sin, ignore His voice, look over his warnings and countless other things and yet He delights in showing mercy. When they crucified Jesus, he delighted in showing mercy by letting Jesus die for ALL of our sins (theirs included), when we cheat, steal, lie, manipulate, miss the mark…..He delights in showing mercy. There is nothing that can separate us from the LOVE of God and He exhibits this love to us by lavishly showing us mercy everyday.
This is the lesson that I am learning. A valuable lesson, a lesson that I want to be able to pass to my daughter, to the teens that I lead on a weekly basis, to my wife and everyone else in my sphere of influence.
Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. ~Micah 7:18 (NIV)
